About Dr Han & Chinese Medicine
What Is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of health that has been used for thousands of years in China and other parts of Asia.
Unlike Western medicine, which often focuses on treating specific symptoms or diseases, TCM looks at the whole person.
Including the mind, body, and spirit. It aims to restore balance in the body to prevent and treat illness.
The Importance of Balance
At the heart of TCM is the idea of balance, especially the balance of Yin and Yang.
These are opposite forces (like cold and hot, rest and activity, or dark and light) that must work in harmony for good health.
When Yin and Yang are out of balance, illness can occur. TCM works to restore this harmony through methods like acupuncture, herbal medicine, and dietary therapy.
The Flow of Qi (Energy)
Another key idea in TCM is Qi (pronounced “chee”), which means life energy. Qi flows through the body in channels called meridians.
If Qi is blocked or weak, a person may feel tired, sick, or out of balance.
Treatments like acupuncture help to keep Qi moving smoothly and strongly through the body.
A Different Approach to Health
Instead of just treating symptoms, TCM tries to find and fix the root cause of health problems.
It also focuses on prevention, helping people stay well before illness starts.
